Carbon Upcycling Technologies

Carbon Upcycling Technologies (CUT) mission is to reduce the carbon intensity of cement and concrete while maintaining strength, durability and cost by enhancing low-value mineral feedstocks for use as supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs).

In December 2022, we agreed a pilot for the supply, installation, and operation of a 50 tdp plant on Ash Grove’s Mississauga cement site. The pilot will focus on integrating CUT technology into our production process through CO2 enhanced BOF slag. After the CUT enhancing process, the enhanced slag would be added to the finishing mill on a low scale (<5%).
